We are now offering a variety appointments to meet the needs of our patients.

GPs

• Same day Telephone Triage appointments
• Same day Face to Face appointments.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner 

• Same day Telephone Triage appointments
• Preobookable Telephone Triage appointments up to 2 weeks in advance, appointments released daily.
• Prebookable Face to Face appointments up to 2 weeks in advance, appointments released daily.
• Prebookable Early morning appointments up to 2 weeks in advance with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner appointments from 7am on Tuesdays and Thursdays

E - Consult

 E- Consult is an online triage and consultation tool, you can get safe, confidential advice from a GP, Advanced Clinical Practitioner or other members of the practice team. You can also use this service for administrative reasons such as requesting sick notes, referrals, test results and medical reports. General health advice and Self Help guides are also available.  The practice will provide a response to your E - Consult within 48 hours working hours of submitting.  Please click on the link to launch.  https://parkwaymedicalgroup.webgp.com/

Appointments with a Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant 

• Face to face appointments are available with the Practice Nurse.
• Telephone review appointments available with the Practice Nurse
• Face to face appointments are available with the Health Care Assistant.

The duration of these appointments depends upon the appointment request.  You will be asked by the receptionist what the nature of the appointment is; this is to allow the receptionist to allocate the correct appointment time.

When the all GP appointments and Nurse Practitioner appointments are fully booked for the day

General practice is under a lot of pressure and if we are full to capacity you may be offered a telephone triage appointment with a GP at the walk in, this is dependent on availability, or directed to ring 111, attend a Walk in Centre, for minor ailments we can refer you to your local pharmacy of choice.  We need to offer a safe environment and these appointments have been made available to help with the access pressure. 

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

Electronic Calling System

Please watch the screen within the waiting room; your name will be called when it is your turn to see a GP or Practice Nurse.

Front Door Intercom

The door intercom will not be used during usual opening hours making the practice more accessible to patients.

The door intercom will be used during extended access - on a Monday evening or on early opening on a Tuesday and Thursday morning for staff safety purposes.

Local health leaders are urging everyone to help protect the NHS by choosing the right service for their needs as pressure continues to increase on our hospitals and GP surgeries.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 11:00.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Sickness Certificates

You do not require a doctor's sickness certificate for any illness lasting seven days or less. Your employer may however require you to complete a self-certification form (SC2) which is available from your employer or on the HMRC website.

Evidence that you are sick

If you are sick for more than seven days, your employer can ask you to give them some form of medical evidence to support payment of SSP (statutory sick pay).

It is up to your employer to decide whether you are incapable of work. A medical certificate, now called a 'Statement of Fitness for Work’ (see below) from your doctor is strong evidence that you are sick and would normally be accepted, unless there is evidence to prove otherwise.

You could also provide evidence from someone who is not a medical practitioner, e.g. a dentist. Your employer will decide whether or not this evidence is acceptable. If your employer has any doubts, they may still ask for a medical certificate from your GP.

Statement of Fitness for Work - ’Fit Note'

The 'fit note' was introduced on 6 April 2010. With your employer's support, the note will help you return to work sooner by providing more information about the effects of your illness or injury.

Flu Vaccination 2022

We still have a some supply of flu vaccines, if you have not had a Flu vaccine yet please contact the surgery and get protected!

Please note: Due to regional supply issues of the COVID Vaccines Parkway Medical will not be delivering COVID vaccines.  Please ring 119 to book your appointment.

Children Nasal Flu

ALL school-aged children will be vaccinated at school under the schools vaccination programme.

We are holding a Child Nasal Flu clinic on Saturday 24th September 9am - 11am and Wednesday 26th October. Please contact the practice to book your child's appointment.

We will hold separate clinics for children aged 2 and 3 (and those turning 4 after 31st August 2022).  We will publish details of these clinics once we have further information

We know that other providers like pharmacies and supermarkets offer flu jabs to patients

Like all other practices, we rely on funding from each flu jab we give to help cover running costs and to keep the practice viable and maintain services

Every single flu jab you have elsewhere means loss of funding for your GP surgery, which puts them even more at risk

Regardless of what anybody might say, you are definitely NOT helping us by having your flu jab with someone else

We are more than capable of administering thousands of flu jabs each year as we have been doing for decades

Therefore please support your local surgery by having your flu jab with us

By choosing us, you will be vaccinated in a properly equipped consulting room or treatment room by a qualified member of our Nursing or GP Team; who will have access to your medical records and are properly equipped for emergencies
